IDBALI – On Friday 5 May 2023, idbali had the opportunity to visit Cetho Temple in a series of Bank BPD Bali Media Gathering activities in Solo and Yogyakarta.

Talking about royal affairs, it cannot be separated from historical sites. Cetho Temple is a Hindu temple which is thought to have been built during the Majapahit Kingdom.

Located at 1,496 meters above sea level, it is one of the tallest temples in Indonesia along with Arjuna Temple, Gedong Songo Temple and Ijo Temple.

Cetho Temple is located on the slopes of Mount Lawu, and is one of the hiking trails. To enter the Cetho Temple area, Tribunners will be charged an entrance fee or entrance ticket price (HTM) of IDR 15,000 for domestic and IDR 50,000 for foreign tourists.

Cetho Temple is located in Cetho Hamlet, Gumeng Village, Jenawi District, Karanganyar Regency.

Getting to this area can be said to be difficult and easy.

Tourists coming from Jakarta, Bandung and Yogyakarta can head towards Solo.

From here tourists head towards Karanganyar where the temple is located.

When arriving at the Karangpandan terminal, tourists will be faced with two paths.

If, tourists turn right or follow the asphalt path, then tourists will go to visit Tawangmangu.

Heading to Cetho Temple, tourists only need to walk straight towards the yellow tea garden. Tourists will get Poleng cloth.

This cloth serves to respect the sanctity of the Cetho Temple.

Where, this temple is also used for worship facilities.

When first discovered, this temple has 14 terraces.

But currently, there are only 9 terraces.

The nine terraces that can be found today are the result of restoration carried out by Sudjono Humardani in 1975-1976.

This temple is open every day, from 09.00 WIB to 17.00 WIB.

One of the local tour guides, Agus said, this area also has the courtyard of Dewi Sarasvati.

Where the Sarasvati statue is a gift from the Gianyar Government.

This statue is placed in the Cetho Temple area as a tourist attraction.

“Tourists must take off their footwear. The cleanliness of this area is indeed very guarded. Before entering this courtyard there is incense that will welcome all tourists. Next to the courtyard there is a spring which is quite sacred to the residents. This is evidenced by the many offerings that are in this place. However, tourists can take the water and wash it all over the body, feel the freshness of the spring or spring on the slopes of Mount Lawu,” Agus concluded.
